BALANCE ANIMAL PROBIOTICS are natural and formulated to work directly with the animal’s digestive system to support natural processes and aid recovery from stress, illness or trauma. It is a liquid, fermented food and is designed for general application for animals.

What is a probiotic and how does it work?

A probiotic consists of live microbes that are fed to animals to promote a healthy gut function.  While various forms of probiotics (eg. fermented foods) have been used for thousands of years for animals, it is only since about 2000 that the science and understanding of liquid probiotics has come of age in the general public for animal use.

Probiotics effectively flood the gut with billions of live, beneficial microbes to help boost the gut's normal micro-‐flora (the population of billions of microbes that play an important role in the growth, health and vigor of the animal).

A healthy, balanced micro‐flora is essential to the health of any animal because it:

• helps digestion by breaking down cellulose and other indigestible substances

• promotes the synthesis and absorption of vitamins and minerals

• stimulates the immune system

• prevents the proliferation of potential disease‐causing pathogens such as E.coli and salmonella

Summary of benefits

• Improved growth of farm animals: through control of subclinical gut infections, a similar mechanism to that of antibiotic growth promoters (but without the side effects)

• Improved utilisation of food: achieved by increasing the efficiency of the existing digestive processes and/or by promoting the digestion of previously indigestible substances.

• Reduced intestinal upsets: for symptoms include scouring or diarrhoea, loss of appetite and poor digestion of food.

• Improved health: generated by increasing resistance to infectious diseases either by direct antagonism or by stimulating immunity.

• Establishment/re-establishment of microflora: for the establishment of healthy gut microflora in animals or the re‐establishment of gut microflora following antibiotic or steroid use.

When can BALANCE Animal probiotics be used?

·         Immediately following birth

·         Following antibiotic or steroid (bute) administration

·         Reduce the effects of stress caused by travel, competition, temperature changes, diet and environment changes, injury, surgery, vaccination

·         As a general health tonic for continued well being

BALANCE ANIMAL PROBIOTIC trials have been successfully completed on horses, cattle, dogs, sheep, goats, chooks and cats

Dosage rates for large animals (horses and cattle)  50‐100ml per day as an initial dosage for 5 days. Maintenance dose of 50ml can be administered every day or a few times a week depending on the animal and issue that is being addressed.

Smaller animals, Cats and Dogs  2- 5ml. Poultry around 2ml.

NOTE : Recovery from gut health symptoms can be expected within 48 hours based on trial results. However, at times a condition can appear worse in the first 24 hours with some fever and this can be a natural healing process. An animal’s diet and medications can affect the outcomes and professional help should be sought, as required.

For example, trials have shown that the temporary removal of grain from the diet of horses and cattle can improve recovery with a probiotic. Hydration is also critical in the healing process.

No adverse effect has been reported when using BALANCE ANIMAL PROBIOTIC.

This probiotic is a nutritional supplement and not a medicine.
